EDF Nuclear is one of the largest energy producers in the UK. Dungeness B is a nuclear power station, owned by EDF on the south coast of England. It was the first Advanced Gas-cooled reactor to be constructed in the UK.

As part of EDFs policy of continual improvement, the decommissioning of two transformer and rectifier units was identified.

SES' Special Projects were commissioned to undertake the works with our ongoing commitment to the environment. SES carried out specialist oil sampling which highlighted the potential of PCB contaminated waste in these electrical units. The units were then decommissioned and disposed of efficiently and safely. The PCB disposal was successful and in accordance with the requirements of the client and legislation.

The redundant and now empty transformer compounds were repaired and brought back to the highest standard for potential future requirements.
